Albert Alberts (1911-1995) worked in the civil service in, among others, what used to be the Netherlands East Indies, and as a politics editor for De Groene Amsterdammer. In 1952, he made his debut under his moniker A. Alberts with the collection of stories The Islands, a year later followed the short novel The Trees.
