Elleke Boehmer has published four novels, Screens against the Sky (1990; short-listed David Higham Prize), An Immaculate Figure (1993), Bloodlines (2000; shortlisted Sanlam Prize), and Nile Baby (2008), as well as short stories and many works of non-fiction, among them Colonial and Postcolonial Literature (1995, 2005)) and Stories of Women (2005). Her edition of Baden-Powell’s Scouting for Boys was a 2004 summer bestseller. Her acclaimed biography of Nelson Mandela (2008) has been translated, so far, into four languages, including Arabic and Thai. She is currently a member of the jury for the Man Booker Prize.
