Lot Vekemans (1965) studied Social Geography and went to the Writer’s Trade School in Amsterdam. She started writing plays for young adults and adults in 1995. Her plays are performed internationally and in 2012 one of these will be adapted for a movie. In 2005 she receive the Van Der Viesprijs for Truckstop and Sister of and in 2010 she was awarded the Taalunie Toneelschrijfprijs for Poison.
A Wedding Dress From Warsaw is her debut novel, which was nominated for the Anton Wachter Prize for debuts and the Opzij Literature Prize for female authors. The film rights of the novel have been sold to Fu Works filming company. Fu Works productions previously made the movies Black Book, Süskind and Tirza, based on the book by Arnon Grunberg.
Her monologue Judas is being played by the Münchner Kammerspiele in Germany, a renowned theater company that has commissioned a new play from Lot Vekemans.
