Peter Giesen (1959) studied History and is a journalist for de Volkskrant since 1991. He was editor Education, chief editor Opinion, editor Science and commentator. His interests are with history, sociology and philosophy. He recently started as chief correspondent from Paris, France. His previous publications were Let Me Party (1991) about the supposed and true problems of teenagers and Land of Cowards? (2007) about the history of fear in the Netherlands.
