Toine Heijmans

Toine Heijmans (1969) works as a journalist for de Volkskrant, where he writes columns. He published his fiction debut At Sea in 2011, which gained international recognition and was widely translated and even adapted on screen. It also made Hejmans the first Dutch author to ever win the prestigious French Prix Médicis étranger. In 2019, Pluim Publishers published a collection of Heijmans’ most popular sea and sailing stories. Heijmans lives on the outskirts of Amsterdam, close to his sailing boat, which also functions as his writing office.
